Speculative Illustration

This is a non commissioned project from Barista Magazine - Volume 22.

I wanted to take this project as an opportunity to develop multiple ideas and focus on simpler visuals that have a denser idea behind them.

The specific themes I picked out were, Trends becoming the norm, Gen Z and Millenial focus, “"cold brew economy”, visually appealing and Iced coffee is the new no 1. I tried to use all of these when developing the initial ideas.

I mainly focused on the ideas of, Age groups and iced coffee becoming no 1, so i developed my initial ideas around those.

When developing my final idea, i focused on space of the coffee shop and who is interacting with the iced drinks, so i looked into gen Z and Millenial habits at coffee shop, using what ive seen and what i researched.

Many Gen Z use it as a third space and engage heavily in “sweet treat culture”, then millenial use it as a working space.

This is a NON commissioned project for Wine 52’s magazine ‘Glug’ from issue 57

When initially reading the article i really enjoyed the writers quote from Dom Perignon about tasting the stars, upon exploring that idea i really fell in love with the monk who invented Champagne (supposedly), I wanted to push the idea of him exploring more and more modern ways of producing bubbles becoming a mad scientist of prosecco!

hopefully those ideas came across!

Not Commisioned, a speculative editorial illustration for the Guardian weekly, Issued on December 19th “Into the Void”, from the article “The Interregnum”

I wanted to depict trumps ideals on world politics in a manner of someone who doesnt take it seriously, using the idea of lack of common values to jump start this project.
